The homeowners needed a residential architect that understood the challenges of designing a home within an older neighborhood in Greenville.

Working directly with City of Greenville staff to determine appropriateness, LMG Architects developed a more updated look that gave this home’s exterior it’s dignity back. The simple materials and understated color palette brought a more comfortable, modern look to the home, while adhering to the design guidelines of the Colonel Elias Earle Historic District. The Owners now can enjoy the updated front porch, expanded kitchen and new master suite (with private deck). The larger windows, new guest bath, expanded entry foyer, new front stairway and new free-standing two-car garage gave this active family of four more room to breathe.

Sometimes a residential architect needs to make sweeping changes to an older home, but in Greenville, where there are so many great neighborhoods, smaller aesthetic and functional updates can help Owners be comfortable remaining where they are for years to come.

The homeowners and LMG Architects had such a great experience with this project, that they worked on a another commercial office project together several years later.
